The Basics 101

The Bible
66 books combined in Old and New Testaments. Complete Truth. Divinely inspired.
God
Only one God in 3 Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All knowing, all powerful, Creator of the universe.
Jesus Christ
God's Son. Born of a virgin. Never ever sinned. Volunteered to die as a sacrifice for our sin so that we could go to heaven and be with God. The ONLY way to heaven. Rose from the dead. He will return to Earth again to set up His kingdom.
Man
Created in God's image. Incapable of ever pleasing God through our own merits.
Salvation
We know that we need salvation because we have sinned. That sin seperates us from God. We believe that Jesus paid the price for our sin (His death). This is the only thing that will save us from eternal seperation from God. We must accept Christ's gift and have faith in Him alone for our salvation.
Assurance
We know we will live eternally in heaven with God because of our faith in Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives within us to serve as our "guarantee."
Holy Spirit
God. Lives within the Christ-follower helping them to better understand God and how to follow Him. Serves as a "down-payment" of sorts... a promise of heaven and what is to come.
Church
Christ-followers around the world. Locally, baptized believers come together to worship, learn, pray and visit.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Baptism is a symbol of new birth in Christ. It is done by full body "dunk" of those who have personally believed in Jesus. The Lord's Supper is to remind Christ-followers of the suffering, death and re-birth of Jesus. It is open to all Christ-followers, not just members of our church.
